New Version Of The Arcade Emulator Mame

Category: MAME

By Hawq

The Mame floodgates are opening once more as the biggest arcade emulator around hits version .137, let’s see what this version brings us:

IMPORTANT NOTE: As of this release of MAME, several important things about the system have changed. Please read the following items before attempting to compile this new version.
    1. A new tool chain for Windows, based off of gcc 4.4.3 prerelease, is now REQUIRED. Go to http://mamedev.org/tools to get the new tools. The code included with 0.137 WILL NOT BUILD with the old tools. The new tool chain has support for building 64-bit MAME builds with gcc, as well as built-in DirectX headers, and C++ support, which was missing from the old tools.
    2. Non-Unicode builds of Windows MAME are no longer supported. The options to turn this off in the makefile have been removed, and future changes are likely to solidify this requirement. If you are still (God forbid) running on Win9x, you will need the unicows.dll library to run MAME. Download unicows from Microsoft.
    3. All code in MAME is now compiled as C++, plus there have been a few small changes that take advantage of the C++ language. For the most part, there is no effect on how drivers are written, except for some nicer accessors to devices and address spaces. Future improvements to take advantage of the C++ syntax will evolve slowly, and will be done internally. We are not interested in outside attempts to do this work for now.
    4. The SDL OSD for MAME is now shipped as part of the main source package. SDL builds for Windows are now regularly built as part of the validation sequence for a new release. Thanks to R. Belmont, couriersud, and Olivier Galibert for their work on the SDL port over the years.

New Version Of The Amiga Emulator WinUAE

    Category: UAE

    By Hawq

More beta updates for the best Commodore Amiga emulator around now so let’s get straight down to it before my mind becomes clouded with memories of screaming peds on fire (don’t call the cops I’m talking Syndicate):

  • implemented feature that makes selecting image from multi disk programs faster and easier. When multidisk image is in disk drive, right clicking on “Select disk image” will open menu that lists all detected disk images (+including all normal “favorite” menu options) Also added previous and next disk input events. Currently supports following disk number naming conventions: “*(disk x*”, “*x.*”, “*_a.*”, “*-a*”, “*A.*” (x = number 1 to 9, a = a-z/A-Z, A = A-Z, ? any character, * = anything)
  • D3D vsync in interlaced modes was erratic (bug since the beginning)
  • added “GamePorts” to “Copy From” option in Input panel that merges Game Ports panel mouse and joystick configuration with current non-compatibility input configuration, also possible old keyboard layout Game Ports panel mappings will be replaced with default keyboard mapping. Nothing is remembered, slot 1 mappings are simply overwritten with new or default mappings.

New Version Of The SNES Emulator Bsnes

    Category: bsnes

    By Hawq

A rapid update from byuu for his SNES emulator now, let’s see what he had to say about it:

Found the cause of the issue breaking SuperFX games after loading SA-1 games. Seems the XML mapping tree wasn’t being cleared. It’s also not a good idea to use bsnes/ as the folder name when the Makefile generates a binary by the same name in the same directory, so back to src/ for the main emulator it is.
With those fixes, this release should be fully stable; but again my intentions are to keep v060 as the stable release for a while.
Nonetheless, you can grab the new beta at Google Code. It should be the last update for at least a few weeks.

New Version Of The GameCube Emulator Dolphin

    Category: Dolphin

    By Hawq

This excellent Nintendo GameCube and Wii emulator gets a release now and things are moving along rather nicely with it, let’s see what’s been said:

As Dolphin nears the first release since becoming open source software, we are hard at work to make it more stable. Now, we offer up “v2.0 RC1″ for our faithful testers to try out and report back!
If you’re on windows or OS X, head over to the downloads section to download the Release Candidate. If you’re on linux, you will need to svn checkout and build http://dolphin-emu.googlecode.com/svn/branches/stable.
Please test the Release Candidate and let us know via the forums or the googlecode issue tracker if you’ve found a stability bug. Note that feature requests and bugs not pertaining to stability for the v2.0 release will be frowned upon, and could bring down developer wraith.
      Happy testing!

New Version Of The Genesis Emulator Kega Fusion

    Category: Kega Fusion

    By Hawq

The Windows version of this Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Master System and Game Gear emulator has had an update, let’s see what’s been done shall we? purely a rhetorical question of course as why would you be reading this if you didn’t want to know? I’ll shut up now and let the news do the talking:

  • Swapped SMS buttons
  • Added an option (that I couldn’t think of a suitable name for) to show the full SMS area when running GG games
  • Fixed a couple of non-working SMS games (auto disable of some features, e.g. YM2413, which would cause them to crash if present)
  • Fixed some other minor SMS issues
  • GG games that are really SMS games in a GG cart should now auto boot in SMS mode
  • A couple of 32X tweaks that will only matter to homebrew coders currently
  • Fixed a couple of SegaCD games that didn’t boot/run - if you find any more, please do let me know - as far as I know, there are none
  • Command line with -scd or -mcd and no filename will now cause Fusion to start up in ‘Boot SegaCD’ mode
  • Added support for the (pretty useless) SF7000 floppy disk interface for the SC3000 - you need the SF7000 IPL ROM for this to work
  • SC3000 keyboard can now be enabled from the options menu
  • A few sound tweaks.
  • Download from the homepage or below.
