What's bleem! and what do I need to run it ?
Bleem! is an emulator for the playstation with great speed, compatibilty and frequent updates. Bleem! is written in 100% assembler by the american programmer Randy Linden. But bleem! is more than a simple emulator: With a 3D accelerator bleem! even improves the playstation graphic so it looks better on your PC than on the real PSX. To do this, bleem! can run at resolutions above the maximum PSX resolution (512x468). It's no problem for bleem! and a good graphic card to emulate resolutions above 800x600! Bleem! requires at least a P166 with 16 MB Ram, but to run games with better graphic you should have a PII 300 and a 3D accelerator. Bleem! badly requires Windows 95 or 98!
Why can't I download bleem! for free like all other emus ?
Because bleem! is something other. All emus are a freetime work, bleem! is a fulltime
job for Randy Linden. He worked about 2 years to get it finished and had NO income for
this time ! And he updates the emu really often : Between version 1.0 and 1.3 were
really big differents but only 2 months of development.
If you want it, go to Bleem.com and order
your copy online today. Bleem! is also avaible these stores : Fry's Electronics, CompUSA, Electronics Boutique,
Hastings, Virgin Megastores, BJ's and Select Cosco Stores. It costs 29.95$ including shipping (if you
ordered online).
What's the legal situation about bleem! ?
Well, this is a really big point. First of, bleem! plays imports as well as
CD-backups, but this doesn't make bleem! illegal. It is allowed by law to make a
backup of a game you bought. PSX users have tools like Game Enhancer or the
MOD-Chip. If Sony isn't able to stop those things, why shouldn't PC users with
bleem! be able to play them ? And there's another point : To detect if a PSX
game is original or not, the PSX CD's have errors on them so the playstation
knows that this is an original CD. But new highspeed drives (the PSX uses a
2x CD-Rom drive) with their great error-correction just correct those errors,
so it's impossible to get this data ! But that's not Sony's opinion : Sony
things that bleem! is illegal (not only bleem! but the whole emulation) so
Sony tried several times to stop bleem! like they did with the Virtual
Game Station from Connectix. But bleem! is different : Bleem! doesn't use
the PSX bios, which includes important functions for emulator. Bleem! also
NEVER tried to be a replacement for the real PSX, but to be an accessory. But
Sony accuse bleem! of things like copyright infringement and misappropriation
of trade secrets. It's really sad that Sony tries to stop bleem!, since it opens
up a really big market to them. Millions of PC users are nowable to buy and play PSX
games on their home PC.

How did bleem! get started ? (from bleem.com)
Late last summer, David Herpolsheimer was contacted by a friend in the software
industry, who asked if he could do a favor for a small startup and design a logo
for something called bleem! with no further information about this "top secret"
project. He provided the logo, and didn’t think about bleem! again until early
1999, when he received a call from programmer Randy Linden, who was looking
for someone to help with packaging and launching a new product. A few marathon
phone calls later, they met in person and the bleem! team was born.
