New Version Of The Amiga Emulator WinUAE

July 31, 2008 by Hawq

More updates for the best Commodore Amiga emulator around, it looks like we’re not far of the full 1.5.1 release which I’m looking forward to as an old Amiga owner so let’s see what we have with these versions:

1.5.1 RC1 (few days or not):

  • clear RTG screen when switching to different RTG mode
  • d9dx9_36.dll set to delay load, winuae now runs without recent DX redistributable installed as long as D3D filter(s) aren’t used
  • shaders moved to plugins\filtershaders\direct3d (perhaps opengl shaders will be implemented someday..)
  • pixel shader filter on the fly change crashes fixed (I hope)
  • adf was not updated if disk write DMA was aborted (Cadaver save)
http://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae.zip “should” fix D3D fullscreen issues.

Fullscreen handling really needs yet another rewrite (after 1.5.1) because currently it is not possible to switch to/from d3d fullscreen to other fullscreen mode without first closing d3d mode completely. (=annoying desktop flashing)

Previously I didn’t really care because old d3d was slow and useless. It isn’t anymore..

“workaround”: D3D “full-window” mode, it isn’t slower than real fullscreen (at least not much) and does not need mode switching.

GUI getting drawn “behind” in fullscreen d3d is known problem, try to ignore it

Download from the release thread at the English Amiga Board or below where you’ll find both the RC 1 release and one that fixes an issue with D3D in case you need it.
